Wellington Management has a global presence and worldwide investment coverage. However, for us, diversity means more. In order to deliver the best possible service and investment results to our clients, we believe it is essential that we maintain a diverse workforce and cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and mutually respectful culture.
We seek to hire people from various cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities who bring a range of educational backgrounds, beliefs, personal experiences, and interests to the firm. These differences help us by challenging conventional wisdom, sparking creative thinking, and enriching our lives and relationships with clients, colleagues, and others with whom we do business.
Diversity is not solely about hiring talented people with diverse backgrounds. It is also about ensuring that they can maximize their potential. We are committed to fostering an environment that encourages everyone to be the best they can be and to deliver the most innovative and effective investment solutions for our clients.
Our commitment to diversity is reflected in our recruiting initiatives. We have developed relationships with a variety of organizations to help us recruit talented and diverse professionals into our undergraduate and graduate internship programs.
In addition, we are committed to building strong relationships with the minority/women communities at the universities and graduate schools from which we actively recruit. We have established relationships with organizations at a variety of schools, and sponsor and participate in targeted events for student organizations. We seek to educate minority undergraduate and MBA students about opportunities in investment management and to identify those minority students who have an interest in and a passion for investment management.
Affinity groups help the firm support underrepresented groups in our workforce, recognizing the unique capabilities of diverse talent pools among the ranks of our professionals, from the long-tenured to the recently hired. To recognize the value of these differences and enhance the inclusiveness of our environment, Wellington Management's Diversity Committee encourages employees to participate in and develop affinity groups: identity-based networks of individuals that serve a business purpose and help empower group members to fulfill their potential at the firm.
A diverse employee base fosters a healthy difference of opinion, which is a crucial feature of our investment culture.
